Karissa Gable, MD, has received a Clinical Research Fellowship from the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM) Foundation to study chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), a rare neurological disorder involving inflammation of neurons and destruction of myelin. Gable will use the one-year, $60,000 fellowship to gain insight into the immune mechanisms underlying CIDP. By identifying these mechanisms of immune dysregulation Gable hopes to identify biomarkers that may predict clinical course, assess therapeutic responses and help develop targeted therapies for CIDP.
