The AHA/ASA's top award for all three of our hospitals, as well as more than a dozen new lectures, abstracts, and presentations are just some highlights to come from Duke at the 2020 International Stroke Conference in Los Angeles this week.
Duke University Hospital, Durham Regional Hospital, and Duke Raleigh Hospital all received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s "Get with the Guidelines-Stroke Gold Plus with Honor Roll Elite Plus" award. This award, the most prestigious of its kind, recognizes a stroke centers' ongoing commitment to improving patient care and patient outcomes as well as how quickly patients receive clot-busting treatment.
Duke was also selected as a recruitment site the new DISCOVERY (Determinants of Incident Stroke Cognitive Outcomes and Vascular Effect on RecoverY) trial, which was introducted at this year's ISC. Nada El-Husseini, MD, will serve as the site's principal investigator, while the Duke Clinical Research Institute's Lisa Wruck, PhD, will serve as statistical core.
