Meg Sugita and Vince Chang

Megumi Sugita, MD, and Vincent Chang, MD
"My jaw dropped in amazement when I heard that Meg and Vince skillfully managed 17 consults in a single night shift while also managing a floor patient who started seizing, another floor patient who became hypotensive to SBP 30s, and another floor patient who went into DKA. That is some all-star work right there! I am so impressed and proud to have them as co-residents!"

Michelle Maher, MD, Andrea Linares-Lopez, DO
Michelle and Andrea recognized a stroke patient presented late night with cortical hand syndrome ( low on the NIHSS but very disabling condition). Together, they were able to give tPA with Door To Needle time of ONLY 21 minutes which lead to significant hand function improvement in this patient.

Joshua Kowalczyk, MD (Internal Medicine Resident)

"This was a very difficult social situation on a patient on the stroke service where Josh went above and beyond to provide compassionate care to her in her time of need. The nursing staff specifically highlighted his care to our service regarding this patient in getting her the help and support that she needed, helping the entire care team on 8 DCT,  while helping coordinate a safe discharge plan. He did this all while also discharging multiple other patients on a very busy service day for a new intern. The medicine department is very lucky to have him as one of their new trainees as was the stroke service during this week."
