About Our Division

Duke values the role of the general neurologist both in evaluation and treatment of patients and the education of residents and students.

Outpatients are seen daily in Duke Neuroscience Clinic 1L, our recently opened clinic in south Durham,  and the MOB8 outpatient building on the Duke Raleigh campus. Active inpatient consultation services at Duke and at the Durham VA Medical Center allow residents to see a spectrum of patients under faculty supervision; our providers perform additional inpatient consultations at Duke Regional and Duke Raleigh. Our senior residents who desire more clinic exposure can take additional electives in general neurology with an emphasis on a community model. Lastly, through our Duke Private Diagnostic Clinic partnership with Kernodle Clinic, we have additional neurology expertise west of the Triangle.

Education

Our faculty are leaders in neurological education and participate in core rotations for Duke Medical students at all three Duke sites, core faculty for the Adult Neurology Fellowship Program and Program Directorship for the Neurology APP Fellowship Program. Our faculty are also involved in educational research as well as clinical research with the Neurology Clinical Research Organization.

Subspecialty Care

In addition to being general neurologists, our providers are also trained and certified specialists in other areas of neurology. These areas include epilepsy , sleep disorders, neuromuscular diseases, clinical neurophysiology, rehabilitation neurology, and sports neurology. Additionally, general neurology faculty provides care at the Durham VA Medical Center. The division also provides opportunities for additional training for residents, fellows and students.
