Sleep Medicine

Sleep disorders affect up to 70 million Americans and take a massive toll on physical and mental health, productivity, and quality of life. There is no wellness without healthy sleep.

Help Fund the Future of Healthy Sleep

Duke Neurology strives to provide exceptional sleep care to all patients. As part of this mission, we are also dedicated to training the next generation of sleep physicians and performing cutting-edge sleep research.

At Duke Neurology, we train two sleep medicine fellows per year. In addition, we provide sleep education to residents from multiple specialties and to medical students in their second and fourth years. We believe it is critically important for all physicians to have an understanding of sleep medicine.

Sleep research at Duke Neurology includes clinical trials of novel pharmaceuticals and devices, examinations of sleep health disparities, and optimization of clinical practice. Much of our research is performed independently, with no industry or governmental support. This independence allows us to follow the science and ask the questions that are most important to us and to our patients.

A gift to the Sleep Medicine Research Fund or the Sleep Medicine Education Fund will allow us to further our work. Donations to the Sleep Medicine Research Fund will immediately be put to use on projects such as the role of iron therapy in restless legs syndrome and migraine and in evaluating disparities in sleep care. Donations to the Sleep Medicine Education Fund will support our fellows' access to reference materials, world-renowned guest lecturers, and attendance at educational conferences.
